To my brothers and sisters in Yahshua...
I realize there are many brothers and sisters (in the Lord) who insist that it's wrong to celebrate Easter, Christmas, etc., due to the fact that they were spun from pagan practices, but I'm here to tell you that if you are truly Father Yahweh's child, you are not condemned for practicing your holidays as you feel led, nor are you in error for NOT practicing them! Here are a few things that He Himself has to say about this practice:
- · One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day [alike]. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. He that regardeth the day, regardeth [it] unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard [it]. But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. (Romans 14:5, 6a, 10)
- [There is] therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. (Romans 8:1)
Those Scriptures sound pretty clear to me. My precious Richard (my husband of 12 years) doesn't like to celebrate them because they are spun off from pagan practices, but as I've tried to explain to him, that's not the reason I like to celebrate them, and why my family likes to celebrate them. I have made some concessions, however. I will not put up a Christmas tree because of the very specific verse that tells us not to (Jeremiah 10-3,4). And I call Easter "Resurrection Day". But my Mom and Dad, who are definitely born again, God-loving Christians, celebrate both, because they grew up celebrating them, as did most of us.
And I'm also here to tell you that when the trump sounds, my Mom, Dad, Richard, and I will all be with the Lord throughout eternity, and when we stand before His Throne, He is not going to dress us down for celebrating or not celebrating holidays!
We need to spend MUCH less time condemning our brothers and sisters in Yahshua for what they believe or don't believe, and more time on giving the Gospel to a lost and dying world. If they are truly born of the Spirit, they are saved, not condemned.
Love you all in Him!
