I don't think the Crucifixion was on Friday.

Of that day, John 19:14 says, "IT WAS THE PREPARATION OF THE PASSOVER, and about the sixth hour (9 AM, Roman Time): and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!"In 30 AD, Passover was on Friday, April 7, on the Julian Calendar they were using. The day before Passover was when they had to cook the food for Passover. Thursday was the preparation day. The day before Friday was the day of the Crucifixion, Thursday, April 6, 30 AD. Thursday was the day the Sanhedrin met. They were not allowed to meet on Feasts, the day before a Sabbath or on a Sabbath. Therefore, they would not have met on Friday or Saturday.

Mt. 12:40 says, "as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth."

The 3 days and 3 nights in the heart of the earth were Thursday (day), Friday (night then day), Saturday (night then day), and Sunday (night).
