"Israel's difficulty"
Dear friends:
Yesterday I was privileged to speak with an Israeli friend. We spoke about the great danger and difficulty Israel faces, the present weak Israeli leadership, and the role of the present U.S. administration in urging Israel to continue to compromise with an uncompromising and implacable enemy.
That last point was underscored in a news report this morning from isrealnationalnews.com, which said, "A recent Palestinian Authority poll shows that 84 percent of PA Arabs approve of the massacre at Merkaz HaRav Yeshiva in Jerusalem, where eight students were gunned down and ten wounded."
It is unthinkable that civilized people could think that way. But that's the point. They are obviously not civilized. Over the years, the evil P.A. leadership has turned the people into uncivilized monsters, beginning as little children. A great majority, not just a few radical terrorists, wants death to all Israelis.
With Syria and Hizbollah to the north, Hamas and other P.A. to the east and south, and Iran's looming nuclear threat to the east, all seething with irrational hatred, only God can save them. And the Bible assures us that He will.
Among positive news this morning is a report from the Jerusalem Connection E-newsletter:
- Sen. John McCain said, in an exclusive interview with The Jerusalem Post during his current Israel stopover: "If Hamas and Hizbullah succeed here, they are going to succeed everywhere, not only in the Middle East, but everywhere. Israel isn't the only enemy," ... "They are dedicated to the extinction of everything that the US, Israel and the West believe and stand for. So America does have an interest in what happens here, far above and beyond our alliance with the State of Israel." ... "I really think that we should understand that the US and Israel are partners. Israel is not a client of the United States. If you are partners, then you don't dictate what you think the terms of the survival of a nation should be." ... "Someone is going to have to answer me the question of how you are going to negotiate with an organization that is dedicated to your extinction." ... "my constituency in the state of Arizona... would be pretty exercised if rockets came across our southern border." ... “I support Jerusalem as the capital of Israel."
If John McCain should be elected President this November, these words of his are encouraging and may bring some rationality to Israel's problem and American diplomacy:
- "Someone is going to have to answer me the question of how you are going to negotiate with an organization that is dedicated to your extinction."
