"Major Internet rumor false?"

Dear friends:

There is an alarmist rumor circulating like wildfire on the Internet and it may be a hoax.  I have received it at least six times, and each time it is presented as fact.  The "Urgent" report is at the bottom of this message.

E-mails cite "The Hal Turner Show" as the original source, at http://www.halturnershow.com/.  I looked up Hal Turner and Wikipedia says, "Harold "Hal" Turner is an American white nationalist, white supremacist, and former Internet radio talk show host from North Bergen, New Jersey. His weekly program, The Hal Turner Show, was webcast from his home until February 2008.... Turner has often made news for his views and stances on political issues. He promotes anti-Semitism (including rounding up and killing Jews); and opposes the existence of the state of Israel. He also writes and promotes Holocaust denial materials.

That should tell you something about the bizarre source of the rumor.  If you want to believe this character, be my guest.

But it gets even better.  I checked his Web site and the link he cites as his source is http://www.wcpo.com/news/local/story.aspx?content_id=1fde2498-d8c8-44f3-9c94-4a27f8407536 , which is nothing more than a TV news item of an Associated Press report that merely says "The House has held a closed session for the first time in 25 years, discussing a hotly contested surveillance bill."  A surveillance bill!  Secrecy is understandable on such a subject so our enemies will not know what we are doing.  What Hal Turner has done with that simple report is irresponsible, but it has given crazy conspiracy theorists new fodder, some of whom I know are salivating over this.

Knowing the blabbermouths in the U.S. Congress, especially those hyper-critical of the present administration, I do not think there is any way there could not be major leaks and expose' of such a secret meeting and content within hours.  I cannot find anything about it on a couple of popular urban legend Web sites.

BELOW IS THE SUBJECT REPORT.  I CANNOT SAY FOR 100% THAT IT IS FALSE, BUT SO FAR MY INVESTIGATION LEADS ME TO BELIEVE IT IS A HOAX.  If this rumor turns out to be true, I will print out this e-mail and eat it, without condiments.

Word has begun leaking from last nights special, closed-door session of the United States House of Representatives.

Not only did members discuss new surveillance provisions as was the publicly stated reason for the closed door session, they were also bluntly warned about:
Members of Congress were FORBIDDEN to reveal what was discussed and ABC News via WCPO web site at the link below CONFIRMS congress members were FORBIDDEN to talk about it!

Several are so furious and concerned about the future of the country, they have begun leaking info. More details coming later today and over the weekend. SPREAD THE WORD!!!
