When is Biblical Pentecost this Year?  For Gloria, Jan and All

The European church developed a method for determining the date of Pentecost (as well as all other feast days) when there was no nation of Israel.

No official proclamations were coming out of the Promised Land for the church to know the true feast days.

Neither was there any way for the church in Europe to know when the new moon was actually sighted in the Holy Land.

As a result, the church’s calendar for feast days rarely matches the actual biblical day for any given biblical feast.

To further complicate matters, rabbinical Judaism does not strictly follow the methods described by the Lord in Leviticus 23.

Rabbinical Judaism also follows writings by sages, as well as traditions that can override the scriptural directives.

This means that calendars that have the printed dates for Jewish feasts can also be wrong.

How then can we know the true feast date that will be recognized by the Lord?

First: This is an important question because feast dates are prophetic.  They have been, and will be, fulfilled at their true “appointed time”.

Second: The Lord will follow the Biblical standard exactly.  The events the feasts celebrate are appointed by Him and are not subject to change by gentile or Jewish caprice.

Third: There are Karaite Jews in Israel that do not follow the rabbinate for their guidance.  These Jews follow the directives of scripture in regard to the Jewish calendar.

These Jews determine the time of the New Year by the ripening of the barley--as prescribed in scripture.

In turn, they determine the beginning of each month by the actual sighting of the new moon --as prescribed in scripture.

Few Christians (and even few Jews) are aware of this small Jewish sects’ efforts to remain faithful to the biblical standards in regard to the calendar and appointed feast dates.

You can go to the Karaite Jew’s website and sign up for their monthly reports on the ripening of the barley and the sighting of the new moon.  Then you can see how these events determine the biblical feast dates.

According to the Karaite method, Pentecost will not even be on June 11 this year!
