"To Ellen --" Power""

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; … Acts 1:8 (NRSV)

But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the Lord,… Micah 3:8

  Dear Ellen,

You entitled your post as “Power”.  The above verses tell us how we receive God’s power.  Who does it come by?  The verses above say power is imparted only from The Holy Spirit.  Now allow me to ask you a question – who do you know that “knows” the Holy Spirit as Jesus said we should in John 14:17?  This is the reason power is almost unknown in Christian circles.

Also note that I did not ask, who is power.  Power is an attribute of the person of Jesus.

But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. 1 Corinthians 1:24

All bad things that happen are not God’s will.  This is the reason power is given to the Christian.  God’s power opposes and stops the devils plans.  God’s power carries out God’s will to stop the devil’s plans.
