"Obama / Clinton & Snopes.com"

Hi John & All:

I just wanted to provide some insight into the Snopes.com website, which Jim quoted yesterday, in his article regarding Barak Obama and Hillary Clinton. The site was created and run by Barbara and David P. Mikkelson, a husband and wife team living in the State of California. It has unfortunately been heavily criticized over the past half-dozen years or so of being somewhat unreliable in their political reporting. I wish this were all .... Barbara and David P. Mikkelson, are also in fact athiests, who not only deny the Divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ, but have publicly taken the position that He never existed, and is the cumulative by-product of several pagan myths. Furthermore, they have gone so far as to participate in a film project, in order to propogate their outlandish and - according to the Bible - foolish beliefs. The film is entitled: "The God Who Wasn't There", and its website states:
In this provocative, critically acclaimed documentary, you will discover:
  • The early founders of Christianity seem wholly unaware of the idea of a human Jesus

The Jesus of the Gospels bears a striking resemblance to other ancient heroes and the figureheads of pagan savior cults

Contemporary Christians are largely ignorant of the origins of their religion

Fundamentalism is as strong today as it ever has been, with an alarming 44% of Americans believing Jesus will return to earth in their lifetimes

  • And God simply isn't there
Dazzling motion graphics and a sweeping soundtrack propel this uncompromising and taboo-shattering documentary that Newsweek says "irreverently lays out the case that Jesus Christ never existed."
The God Who Wasn't There  includes provocative interviews with:
  • Sam Harris, PEN Award-winning author of The End of Faith

Robert M. Price, Jesus Seminar fellow and author of The Incredible Shrinking Son of Man

Alan Dundes, Professor of Folklore at the University of California at Berkeley

Richard Carrier, historian and author of Sense and Goodness Without God

  • Barbara & David P. Mikkelson, authors of the Urban Legends Reference Pages at snopes.com .

The movie promo website: http://www.thegodmovie.com/dvd.php  Furthermore the Mikkelsons promote the foolish idea that Jesus Christ never existed and is nothing more than a pagan urban legend, through discussions on their website.

See ya in the air,

Eric
