"Re: A Modern Day Case of Demonic Possession"

Shalom Dr. Yulish,

"they overcame him BY the blood of the Lamb,
                 AND BY the word of their testimony;
AND they loved not their lives unto the death."

Thanks for the link re. this recent case study:

There are many who would deny that demons exist. I recall what C.S.
Lewis cautioned in his 'Screw Tape Letters' ... TWO big dangers: 1.
denying the very existence of demons ...or ...2. having too much
concern with them.

As followers of Jesus, we are instructed not to be 'unawares' of
demonic deceiving luring ways ... promising the whole World right now,
but instead, ending up in Hell with them forever. We mostly are simply
instructed to draw close to God, and from that place, NEAR the LORD of
the Universe who is also our dear SAVIOUR, to resist the devil and he
will flee.

Scripture teaches that demons gain a 'place/foothold' in our lives by
our sin. The root sin Jesus said is our NOT believing in Jesus and who
He really is ... the 'I AM' ... the One who in the beginning made
everything ...

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the
Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were
made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.  In
him was life; and the life was the light of men." (John 1:1-4)

Here are some instructive scriptures re. the devil and his demons that
I like to keep close and remember. Scripture would teach us that just
as our sin gives a place for the devil in our life ... our deliverance
comes through our being forgiven of all our sins before God, though
true faith in the shed righteous blood of Jesus on our behalf ... and
then following closely, i.e. staying close, at all times, to our Lord
and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Like John the baptist, who prepared the way for Messiah for His first
coming ... we are ...
"... to give knowledge of salvation (including deliverance from
demons) unto his people by the remission of their sins ..." (Luke
1:77)

We may freely proclaim ... "... Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth
to be a propitiation (i.e. fully satisfying the righteous judgments
and justice of a Holy God) through faith in his blood, to declare his
righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the
forbearance of God."

And here are 3 Apostles instructing of the GLORIOUS work that Messiah
accomplished for us ..

1.
"Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them
who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the
world may become guilty before God.

"Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified
in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

"But NOW the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being
witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God
which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto ALL and UPON ALL THEM THAT
BELIEVE:

"for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of
the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the
redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a
propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness
for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of
God; To declare, I say, AT THIS TIME HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS: that HE might
BE JUST, AND THE JUSTIFIER of him which believeth in Jesus.

"Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay:
but by the law of faith.

"Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the
deeds of the law."
(Romans 3:19:28)

2.
"From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence,
even of your lusts that war in your members?

"Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot
obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because YE ASK NOT. (or)
YE ask, and RECEIVE NOT, BECAUSE ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it
upon YOUR LUSTS.

"Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of
the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of
the world is the enemy of God.

"Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that
dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?

"But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the
proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will
flee from you.

"Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands,
ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

"Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to
mourning, and your joy to heaviness.

"Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and HE SHALL lift you
up". (James 4:1-10)

3.
"And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against
the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not;
neither was their place found any more in heaven.

"And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the
Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out
into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

"And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and
strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for
the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before
our God day and night.

"And they overcame him BY THE BLOOD of the LAMB, AND by the word of
their testimony; AND they loved not their lives unto the death."
(Revelation 12:7-11)

Shalom shalom,

David
