What kind of message does this give to others?  It reminds me of the way my puppy shows submission when he is afraid.  He rolls over and shows his tummy, his vulnerable part.  That is how I see covering a Western woman's head with a hijab.
When I was young, in the 1950s, we all wore headscarfs.  Some were draped under the chin and around the neck, some were tied under the chin and others were pulled behind the ears and tied behind the neck.  I will not ever wear a headscarf again.  Not now.  Not ever.
I have really cool blue cammy floppy hat.  Keeps the sun off, the wind out of my hair and it has nothing to do with Islam or the Middle East.  I liked the picture of Dick Cheney in Israel wearing his cowboy hat!!!
