I was greatly encouraged by Pastor F. M. Riley's recent post on March 5 (not to mention his others in the past), which exhorts us to "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, RIGHTLY DIVIDING THE WORD OF TRUTH." II Timothy 2:15 (and of course, its context.)As he wrote, it is important for us to know "of whom, for whom and about whom" a particular passage was written. This will help us not be caught up in all kinds of error. Pastor Riley has done a fine work in reminding us of this very important fact.I would like to leave with you a portion of Paul's letter to the Philippians:Chapter 1 and beginning in verse 2 - "Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now; Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform (complete) it until the day of Jesus Christ: Even as it is meet (right) for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds (chains), and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers (sharers) of my grace. For God is my record (witness), how greatly I long after you all in the bowels (affection) of Jesus Christ. And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more IN (FULL-) KNOWLEDGE AND IN ALL JUDGMENT (DISCERNMENT; PERCEPTION); THAT YE MAY APPROVE (BE ABLE TO PROVE) THINGS THAT ARE EXCELLENT (THE THINGS DIFFERING; THE THINGS THAT DIFFER); that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ; Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God."As we continue watching for Him, let us all study diligently to learn from His Word all of the things He would have us to know. Rightly divided, and illumined by His Spirit! As with Paul, YOU Doves are in MY prayers! With Christ,Amy
