"The Blood of the Messiah"

Dear John and fellow Doves

Here is another essay for the edification of the Body of Christ.

Much Grace

WORD STUDY

THE BLOOD OF THE MESSIAH

How do we apply the Blood of Jesus Christ in our daily lives?

(Underline and boldness are mine to emphasize)

The opening Scripture in this essay is Revelation 12:11 and I quote from the King James Version 1611 (KJV);

V. 11; “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”

So let’s examine the Words that the LORD spoke through the Holy Spirit by John, the Beloved, shall we?

The Greek word “overcome” in the Strong’s Dictionary, the number is # 3528 is define as:

G3528

νικάω

nikaō

nik-ah'-o

From G3529; to subdue (literally or figuratively): - conquer, overcome, prevail, get the victory.

It means to conquer, prevail, and the get the Victory!

The Webster’s Dictionary defines “prevail” to be:

Prevail

PREVA'IL, v.i. [L. proevaleo; proe, before, and valeo, to be strong or well. Valeo seems to be from the same root as the Eng. well. The primary sense is to stretch or strain forward, to advance.]

1. To overcome; to gain the victory or superiority; to gain the advantage.

When Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed; when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. Exo 17.

This clearly gives us the indication that to ‘overcome’ you have the victory and the superiority in Christ Jesus because since the beginning, as revealed in the following Scriptures, you’ll notice that the LORD GOD of Israel is fighting for you! Therefore we do have the victory through HIS death on the Cross and HIS shed BLOOD, which is required for the remission of sin. (See Hebrews 9:22)

Exodus 14:14

“The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.”

Deuteronomy 3:22

“Ye shall not fear them: for the LORD your God he shall fight for you.”

Deuteronomy 20:4

“For the LORD your God is he that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.”

Now we have seen that ‘they have overcome him by the Blood of the Lamb’; here also you see that the ‘him’ that the Word is talking about is revealed in the previous verse, verse 10, the ‘accuser of the brethren’ which is satan himself, the devil.

“We overcome satan when we testify personally to what the Word of God says the Blood of Jesus does for us.” (Derek Price)

So, by the Blood of the Lamb they have got the Victory, the superiority in Christ Jesus and by the Word of their Testimony. I will not by definition go into the “Word of their Testimony” seeing that I want to focus on the “Blood of the Messiah” and how it protects us as “truly born-again” children of God.

Ephesians 1:7

“In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;”

According to the Webster’s Dictionary, the Word “Redemption” is defined as follows:

Redemption

REDEMP'TION, n. [L. redemptio. See Redeem.]

1. Repurchase of captured goods or prisoners; the act of procuring the deliverance of persons or things from the possession and power of captors by the payment of an

equivalent; ransom; release; as the redemption of prisoners taken in war; the redemption of a ship and cargo.

2. Deliverance from bondage, distress, or from liability to any evil or forfeiture, either by money, labor or other means.

In theology, the purchase of God's favor by the death and sufferings of Christ; the ransom or deliverance of sinners from the bondage of sin and the penalties of God's violated law by the atonement of Christ.”

Here you will see it is clear that by the death of Christ on the Cross, He bought us with a price that no man on this earth could ever pay. By the pure Blood, not defiled by man (Adam’s fall), hence the Virgin Birth, God The Father could only accept the Blood of His only Begotten Son, because HE knew that HE (Jesus) would be fit for the Atonement that was required for us. (1 Corinthians 6:20)

“Through the Blood of Jesus, we are redeemed out of the hand of the devil.”(Derek Prince)

1 John 1:7

“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”

Notice that the: Blood of Jesus Christ cleans us from all sin.” Now the question is how?

At this point I would refer to the commentary to “Albert Barn‘s Notes on the Bible” regarding the first part of the Scripture, that I feel is a prerequisite and this is what he has to say;

But if we walk in the light - God is light. Walking in the light may include the three following things:

(1) Leading lives of holiness and purity; that is, the Christian must be characteristically a holy man, a light in the world, by his example.

(2) walking in the truth; that is, embracing the truth in opposition to all error of paganism and infidelity, and having clear, spiritual views of truth, such as the unrenewed never have.

(3) enjoying the comforts of religion; that is, having the joy which religion is fitted to impart, and which it does impart to its true friends.

As he is in the light - In the same kind of light that he has. The measure of light which we may have is not the same in degree, but it is of the same kind. The true Christian in his character and feelings resembles God.”

The second part of the Scripture reveals what the Blood is still continuing cleansing us of sin, and Albert Barn’s has this to add, which I quote;

See the sentiment here expressed fully explained in the notes at Heb_9:14.

‘How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?’

When it is said that his blood cleanses us from all sin, the expression must mean one of two things - either that it is through that blood that all past sin is forgiven, or that that blood will ultimately purify us from all transgression, and make us perfectly holy. The general meaning is plain, that in regard to any and every sin of which we may be conscious, there is efficacy in that blood to remove it, and to make us wholly pure. There is no stain made by sin so deep that the blood of Christ cannot take it entirely away from the soul. The connection here, or the reason why this is introduced here, seems to be this: The apostle is stating the substance of the message which he had received, 1Jo_1:5. The first or leading part of it was, that God is light, and in him is no darkness, and that his religion requires that all his friends should resemble him by their walking in the light. Another, and a material part of the same message was, that provision was made in his religion for cleansing the soul from sin, and making it like God. No system of religion intended for man could be adapted to his condition which did not contain this provision, and this did contain it in the most full and ample manner. Of course, however, it is meant that that blood cleanses from all sin only on the conditions on which its efficacy can be made available to man - by repentance for the past, and by a cordial reception of the Saviour through faith.”

“Through the Blood of Jesus, we are continually being cleansed from all sin” (Derek Prince)

Romans 5:9

“Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.”

The Word rendered here being “justified” is defined in the Greek as Strong’s number # 1344, and stated the following;

G1344

δικαιόω

dikaioō

dik-ah-yo'-o

From G1342; to render (that is, show or regard as) just or innocent: - free, justify (-ier), be righteous.

Notice that it means to be innocent, free, be righteous, and that’s why Derek Prince made the comment, “Through the Blood of Jesus, we are justified, made righteous; just-as-if-we’d never sinned.”

The fact that we are purchased by his blood, and sanctified by it, renders us sacred in the eye of God; bestows a value on us proportionate to the worth of the price of our redemption; and is a pledge that he will keep what has been so dearly bought.

Hebrews 13:12

“Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.”

Look at the word used in the text, “sanctify” and the Greek word in this case is according to the Strong’s Dictionary, # 37 as follows:

G37

ἁγιάζω

hagiazō

hag-ee-ad'-zo

From G40; to make holy, that is, (ceremonially) purify or consecrate; (mentally) to venerate: - hallow, be holy, sanctify.

Look at the Scripture, and see who is the one who is going to ‘sanctify’ the people with His own Blood? Jesus off course!

“Through the Blood of Jesus, we are sanctified, made holy, set apart to God.” (Derek Prince)

Hebrews 10:19, 20

“Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;”

According to Albert Barn’s commentary on this Scripture, he relay the following to us;

“The blood of Jesus is the means by which this access to heaven is procured. The Jewish high priest entered the holy of holies with the blood of bullocks and of rams; but the Saviour offered his own blood, and that became the means by which we may have access to God.”

Therefore, just as the High Priest in the Old Testament entered the Holy of Holies once every year with blood of animals for sin-offering, so Jesus as our High

Priest has entered into the Heavenly Holy of Holies with HIS own Blood, which was an acceptable sacrifice on the Mercy Seat before the Father, and therefore with, boldness we can enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus.

(Hebrews 9:23 and 10:19)

“Through the Blood of Jesus, we have boldness to enter into the presence of God.” (Derek Prince)

Hebrews 12:24

“And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.”

“The Blood of Jesus cries out continually to God in heaven on my behalf.”

(Derek Prince)

So in a nut shell let’s see what wonderful provisions we received by the Blood of Jesus Christ of Nazareth;

Based on all these Scriptures there is one thing that I see and that is that the Blood of Jesus Christ is alive and well!

Revelation 1:5 says it so nicely and I quote:

“And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood.”

Therefore if the Blood was shed and it is gone, so how any one after the Crucifixion could be saved? How could we overcome the enemy in our daily walk and it is only the Blood of Christ that could cleanse us from all unrighteousness?

Lost souls are still being saved and our High Priest (Jesus Christ) is still (continually) practicing the ‘Trespass offering’ to fulfill HIS purpose.

(See Colossians 2:13)

From this lesson we have seen what the Blood of the Messiah is being doing for us on a continual base, but now my dear friends how do we as “truly born-again” children of Papa God apply the Blood on a daily bases?

I want to draw my conclusion from the New Testament where Jesus make mention of something so important that the Body of Christ and the Church has taken for granted!

1 Corinthians 11:23-25

“The Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:

And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.”

It is important to remember two fundamental truths that Jesus taught about communion:

  1. His body was battered and bruised so our bodies can be whole
  2. His blood was shed to ratify the New Covenant

Jesus said the bread and the wine should be taken in remembrance of Him. This means to repeatedly call to mind. Communion reminds us of what Jesus did for us in His sacrifice:

  1. He suffered spirit, soul and body
  2. He conquered death, hell, and the grave
  3. He entered into the Holy of Holies with His own Blood to atone for us, eternally.

Surprised! Well I was until the LORD directed me through various resources and all Glory to the Father, for guiding them.

So, first let’s examine the “Communion” in the light of Scripture, shall we?

The Greek word for communion, koinonia, has several shades of meaning: partnership, sharing, or communication. In the New Testament it is often rendered fellowship. “The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the

communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

(1 Corinthians 10:16)

Communion is fellowship. Fellowship is sharing in His benefits or being partakers of Christ – heavenly communication.

“God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship [koinonia] of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.”

(1 Corinthians 1:9)

Your spiritual hunger will lead you to the Lord’s Table. “Blessed are they, which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.”

(Matthew 5:6)

Your spiritual hunger will be fulfilled at the Lord’s Table.” For he satisfied the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness”

(Psalm 107:9)

Look at the benefits that come as you partake of the Lord’s Table:

  1. Protection from your adversaries
  2. The anointing of the priest and the king
  3. Supernatural abundance
  4. Abundant life
  5. Tender mercy
  6. Security
  7. Royal sonship

“Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.”

(Psalm 23:5-6)

For many people God is somewhere far away. Communion promotes God-on-inside consciousness. It celebrates the fact that God is inside of us and we are in God. This is the most intimate worship.

“He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.

As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.

This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.”

(John 6:56-58)

Interesting to note that Smith Wigglesworth, a legendary man of faith, traveled with a small, personal communion kit. It was his practice to have communion daily, no mater he was.

Jesus taught about celebrating communion often: “For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink, and drink this cup, ye do shew the LORD’s death till he come” (1 Corinthians 11:26). Notice the word often.

The Greek word translated here has the Strong’s number, # 3740 and the Dictionary defines he word as follows:

G3740

ὁσάκις

hosakis

hos-ak'-is

Multiple adverb from G3739; how (that is, with G302, so) many times as: - as oft (-en) as.

Therefore, here you see that the word means ‘as many times’ as possible and I also believe that the action to the Word is found in Scripture as an edification to one another and I will point to that Scripture as proof.

Luke reported that the early church had contined daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart…” (Acts 2:46)

Through the obedience to the Word spoken by Jesus Himself and participating in the communion / fellowship with Him and with one another we are representing and signifying and proclaiming the fact of the LORD’s death until He comes again.

To round up the essay, lets quickly follow the trail that will show you the crucial element needed for our growth and to know the victory which is in Christ Jesus, our Risen Saviour.

After Adam and Eve have transgressed, the LORD God knew that there is only one thing to save them from eternal damnation and that is the Blood of an animal.

Genesis 3:21

“Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.”

Leviticus 17:11

“For the life of the flesh is in the blood:”

Hebrews 9:22

“And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.”

Matthews 26:28

“For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.”

From this Scriptures it is clear that the first blood required for the remission of sin was done in the Garden of Eden.

Then the LORD God institute the “Passover meal” with the innocent lamb and the plan of the Most High was being laid and written in the Law for men to observe and to do on the 14th of Nissan/Abib, the day the Hebrews made ready to leave Egypt.

Exodus 12:5-14

“Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:

And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.

And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.

And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.

Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof.

And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire.

And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD'S passover.

For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.

And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.

And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.”

Here you see that the ground work has been laid to fulfill Scripture, Revelation 13:8 where it is stated that the Lamb was slain from the foundation of the world. This tells me that Father God has ordained the Sacrifice from the begining of the world to be the substitute for our transgressions.

Do you now understand how precious you are all to the Father? ABBA will never let you out of His hand or sight if I may add, because He has chosen you from the ‘foundation of the world’ to partake of His Heavenly Kingdom which is not about meat or drink.

Every year on the 14th of Nissan/Abib, the chosen people of God rehearsed the Feast of the LORD which involved Blood and a sacrifice of a lamb.

A Messianic Jewish believer taught me that the Feasts of the LORD were rehearses of things to come or of prophecies that needs to come in fulfillment.

Colossians 2:16-17

“Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.”

The reality struck when Jesus Christ of Nazareth arrive on the scene, on the LORD’s timeline and exactly where the Saviour of the world should have been born according to the Scriptures.

It was the Lamb of God that was to take away the sin of the world as witness by John the Baptist.

Therefore, just as the Blood of the lamb on the door posts protected the Hebrews from the wroth of God, so will the Blood of the Lamb protect you and your family under your roof, from the accuser of the brethren, sickness and disease, and al related curses.

As the Body of Christ being the “truly born again” followers of the Jewish Messiah, our LORD and risen Saviour, follow HIS example and by participating in the fellowship of Communion, let us do so daily and proclaiming the fact of the LORD’s death until He comes again.

Now I want to share to you a testimony as to what the LORD has told me about the Blood and the principal of how to apply it onto your life.

In my line of study, I was directed by the LORD into various recourses pertaining to Spiritual warfare and ‘not to be ignorant of [s]atans devices’. So I was cautious as where I put my foot and what I see and read and hear.

So, as it come about that I found myself in a place that was filled with ornaments and things offered to idols, as I saw it.

I have been taught and by various deliverance ministries how to apply the Blood and seeing that I was growing, the LORD always open up a new revelation as to certain issues.

Now, I don’t say that the Pastors and Ministers that exercise the Authority in the Name of Christ Jesus are doing it wrong, on the contrary I asked the LORD that same question.

 First I stopped and looked at these ornaments and immediately spoken out load;

LORD, I cover myself with the Blood of Jesus!”

It felt as if someone hit me with a stone, as I stood there frozen. I said, “LORD?” and the impression in my mind was “SON”. I said “Yes LORD I’m your Son”, and I focused on my own son which is now 14 yrs old.

Again my focus went to the LORD and as if HE knew my thoughts, gently asked me what I just did. I was little caught off guard and without hesitation I said; “LORD, I command…” He said “Yes you did.” Then the Holy Spirit let me reflect on my son again and I realized that my son has never command me and I wouldn’t have just sit back and accept this manner of attitude.

Then the LORD said to me that “You never command Me, you ask Me, as My Son has taught and it will be done onto you.” (John 14:13-14; 15:16)

The sweet conviction by the Holy Spirit was so overwhelming that I humbly asked for forgiveness and accept the LORD’s chastening and then I asked the Father to cover my with the Blood of His Son, Jesus Christ of Nazareth, and I immediately felt the sweet flow of HIS Peace covering me from top to bottom and I could go on with my business.

Then I was reflecting on those Pastors and Ministries that went right ahead and put the Blood on everyone and everything as if it was as a garment. The LORD knew my thoughts and gently HE said to me that I cannot ‘command’ if HE did not give me the “Office to Command”.

My dear friends it is all about the Office and therefore I cannot just assume I can stand in someone else’s Office if the LORD hasn’t given me the Office to command.

This was my conviction and therefore I will be more attentive to the Scriptures as to what is permissible under my Office and to stay in step with the LORD Office over me.

It was this conviction that I was brought to this point to write this essay for the edification of the Body of Christ.

May the LORD Jesus Christ be with your spirit.

Grace be with you.

Amen
