John,I thought this would be of interest in following the genealogy of Ishmael and the link to Islam.Interesting Genealogy Of Ishmael And Esau
I was doing some genealogy research on Ishmael and Esau's progeny and discovered something I did not know before. Esau was directly related to Ishmael by marriage. GO HERE for complete Bible genealogy.
Esau married Ishmael's daughter Mahalath. Genesis 28:9;
Then went Esau unto Ishmael, and took unto the wives which he had Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael, Abraham's son, the sister of Nebajoth, to be his wife.
Together the had a son Reuel. Gen. 36:4.
And Adah bare to Esau Eliphaz; and Bashemath bare Reuel ;
Bashemath is also Mahalath. GO HERE
Esau had four other sons but from different wives so the bloodline carrid on through Reuel. His wife Adah, as seen above, bare Esau the son Eliphaz. Esau's third wife Aholibamah (Judith), bare him three sons. Genesis 36:5;
And Aholibamah bare Jeush, and Jaalam, and Korah : these are the sons of Esau, which were born unto him in the land of Canaan.
Anyway, without tracing the lineage all the way down line, I just was surprised to find Ishmael and Esau were related by marriage and therefore Esau and Mahalath carried on the bloodline from Ishmael in Reuel.
And it seems that prophecy from Genesis 16:12 is still operating solidly today.
And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.
Interesting when added to the verses from Ezekiel 35:5 and Galatians 4:25;
35:5; Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred, and hast shed the blood of the children of Israel by the force of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time that their iniquity had an end:
4:25; For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia , and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children .
That perpetual hatred from the seed of Ishmael through Hagar (Agar) still has them in bondage to the law in Arabia. How much clearer can it be?YBIC,Michael deKruif
