"RE: Pepperpot's concerns"

Please don't misunderstand, I'm not against good laws and fairness, but my comment was that as Christians we need to be cautious that we are not being manipulated into letting the godless news media define for us what it means to be a Christian, even with "Christian movies".

The world wants to define all religions the same, as being concerned with doing "good deeds" and seeking "peace on earth" and feeding the poor, and says to us: "Please stop saying Jesus Christ is the only way, just join hands with all the faith groups in doing good deeds and seeking liberation for the oppressed" etc. etc.

That is the Antichrist- New Age religion - just do good and accept that everyone is going to heaven: Jesus is not the only way.

We need to be wary about all this and not get manipulated "off message" by the push toward involvement with good things that are nevertheless NOT the gospel.

For example, if we feed the poor but don't tell them about Jesus Christ, then we have done a "good deed" but if the person dies and goes to hell - then we haven't really done anything for eternity.

Many people will do almost any good deed they can think of EXCEPT going out in public as witnesses for Jesus Christ, telling the world that unless they get saved they are going to hell. That is VERY difficult to do if our main concern is to have people like us, so that we can avoid persecution and being mocked and hated (in other words, so we can avoid cross-bearing).

There are always people who don't give any credit to somebody who makes this point, and they say "How terrible, you are against doing good!" which of course is NOT what I'm saying at all. Do as much good as you can to everybody. However...

God did not call us to "social action" and the various liberation movements. Liberation movements are mostly fights against the natural order that God has established for the proper functioning of the world today. People are rebellious, so they want to upset these institutions that God has established.

The Bible is for Authority - and yet is tells those in authority they must discharge their role in a proper manner.

The Bible is against...

.... Civil Liberation: people overthrow kings and demand total democracy so everyone does what is right in their own eyes
-- Yet, those in authority must govern in the fear of the Lord

... Colonial Liberation: Civil wars and revolutions
--- People should live quiet lives, obey authority, and avoid contentions.

... Female Liberation: wife will not obey her husband, women in charge of men in the church, women in the army, etc.
-- Yet, the Bible says a man must treat the wife right, but she is not in charge, and the men in a society must protect their families

... Children Liberation/no spanking: children disobedient to parents
-- Yet, the Bible says parents must take care of their children

... Sexual Liberation: fornication and adultery and pornagraphy
-- Yet, the Bible says our natural drives are good if kept only in marriage

... Worker Liberation: labourers demand control over the landowner's property, demand unfairly high wages by coercion and violence
--- Yet, the Bible says the rich must pay the worker his wages and not oppress the employees, etc.

... "Gay" Liberation: sodomy lifestyle
-- The Bible says we should marry and have children, and not tollerate this evil practice in society

... Slavery Liberation: Slaves told their masters are evil men for holding slaves, they are "oppressed" minority and must not only be "set free" without compensation, but recieve reparations and entitled to free welfare without working, etc.
-- Yet the Bible say a slave must be treated fairly and not mistreated.

Abraham had slaves; Paul nevhttp://email.secureserver.net/images2/retro/btn_send.gif
Sender preached against the institution of slavery, and it was never the focus of Christianity to make it doctrine to undo this institution. Paul preached that slaves should actually do good service to their masters, and that masters should treat their slaves well. That is New Testament teaching!

I do not think Christians have any business worrying about "political correctness" and being goaded into saying things like, "I'm personally so sorry for all the terrible evils [women, children, workers, minorities, homosexuals] suffered at the hands of people who claimed to be Christians, but were really intollerant fundamentalist bigots."

So either believe or believe what the news media says.

I say that the only one liberation movement we Christians should concern ourselves with is the salvation of souls by the preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ. And that is offered freely to EVERYBODY no matter what their station in life currently is or was.

And to answer Pepperpot's question, Yes, I am involved in this calling, which is telling people about that.
