"WHEN THE ANGELS HELD THEIR BREATH"

The twisted, gnarled wood cast a shadow across the ground

as it supported a  man who would be King. The sting of the wounds

as you took your labored breath was worth all this?

Did you knit me in the womb as you watched them role the dice

for your tunic? Did you see that I would disobey authority and sneak past

where I should not have been? Did you contemplate how you would keep

me safe from the one with the car keys who had too much to drink? Did you see

past your throbbing pain to notice I forgot to say Thank you, Lord?

Did you know at that time when your tears washed your face, that one

day I would wish to be that lamb around your shoulders?

From the thorns on your head to the ones you would save me from

when I went exploring, Did you see? How can it be that

the architect of the daisy and the potter of the milkyway could be

well....in love with me? How is it that my brown eyes being dim with grief

would somehow touch your heart? All the gold is yours all the silver too, so how

is it, that my cold makes you want to heal and comfort? I could not be there for you at the most

important decision you would ever make...I'm here now, but then you knew that somehow love

could jump the boundries of time and space and one day you would see...If I could have

I would have taken you from that cross and hid you to keep you safe.

I would not have known that this was your plan to give your life and take it up again.

Did you know then, that your Father cried, He probably couldn't speak...He turned out the light

and tore the place up while.....

                       The Angels held their breath.
