Our Testimony : A Rock was formed when we held hands.
Both Jim and I will exclude our childhood years.

Angela : At age 18, I entered religious life for 6 years. There were many pluses ( + ) , and yet also enough minuses ( - ) for me to exit. Still looking for meaning and purpose, I quickly married --- too hastily --- and it only lasted for a short time.
Finding myself in a "free-float", I ceased looking for answers, and drifted.
Drifting is a dangerous state of the soul where many can fall into drugs or cults. Thankfully, I did not have to go that route, for God's hand was upon me and in 1974 I met Jim. We fell deeply in love and were soon married. We both had wrinkles from the past to iron out from the beginning, but God continued to bless us --- and then one day in 1977 .......

Jim: Then one day in 1977, I was noticing how society was changing --- particularly the driving on our California freeways. The old ways of courtesy were gone, and the "new rudes" were evident. This cultural change was obvious enough that I began to question : where is this world going?
The Holy Spirit led me to a huge bookstore in a large mall, and among the thousands of books there, I just "happened" to pick up a bright red shiny book called "The Late Great Planet Earth" by some guy named
'Hal Lindsey'.
I bought the book and went home. I went out by the pool, and began reading the book by myself.
Then Ang emerged from the pool to investigate.

Angela : I feared that all those new religious words like 'Millennium', "Armageddon", "Rapture", "Magog"
etc. belonged to some cult. They were totally foreign words to me.

Jim : But the Holy Spirit was very present that Sunday afternoon, and for about 7 hours, we both sat there
taking turns , reading the entire book out loud.
As the sun began to set, a new chapter had been written in our lives and we were Born-Again.
We were changed ---washed in the truth that God has a very definite plan for all of Life.
Our materialistic way of life held no more meaning.

Later that week after questioning around, we found that no one we knew of ever heard of "end-times". And so
2 weeks later --- still thirsting for confirmation --- I returned to the huge bookstore and ---as only the Holy Spirit can do -- was led to pick up a white book called "What This World is Coming To" by someone named "Chuck Smith".
We looked in the front of the book which listed "Calvary Chapel, Costa Mesa". We called them from our home in Whittier to see when services were, and we especially wanted to know if Pastor Chuck spoke on end-times at
all ( boy, were we naive ).

The Secretary assured us that Pastor Chuck would be speaking on Matthew 24 that Sunday
( BTW this occurs only once in 3 years )
and that meant nothing to us since we were Bible illiterate.

We "chose" ( Holy Spirit led ) the evening service at 7:00. And as we drove over there, my wife cautioned me that there may be only a handful of Amish-looking people, and that we should sit in the very back row so that if they get "funny", we would just leave.

Well imagine our surprise when there were thousands of cars in the parking lot, and thousands of
NORMAL - looking people inside. We each wondered where we had been all our life !
The music was so sweet and tender, we both just cried. We had finally found what we had been looking for all of our lives.

Chuck spoke so thoroughly and fatherly of the end-time scenario described by our Lord in Matthew 24 (song) . From that point on, we became Bible-literate, and our thirst for God and His prophetic plan through Jesus Christ has never abated.
His hand is still upon us today.

How grateful we are to God that through His Holy Spirit we were led by these two men of God --Hal Lindsey and Pastor Chuck Smith -- to the Truth, the whole Truth, and nothing but the Truth.
"I AM the Way, the Truth and the Life ... no man comes to the Father, but by Me" -- John 14: 6
By God's grace, we are still being led of the Holy Spirit -- above all else -- today .
"No man can say that Jesus is the Lord but by the Holy Ghost." 1 Corinthians 12:3
