Dear John Tng and All Doves,
We see the theme of the groom/bride cup in Matthew 26:28, Mark 14:23-24, and Luke 22:20. When the Master offers the cup to his closest friends/students at The Last Supper he is using the phrase "in the cup of my blood" used for a wedding proposal! He is asking each of them to become bride. See the studies of Ray VanderLan for a beautiful treatment of this theme. So this event begins the marriage of the Eternal Groom and His eternal Bride. She is not in a period of engagement. Their marriage has begun. The bride price is paid in full the next day with the Messiah being the perfect sin and guilt atonement. The Bride of the ages is currently watching avidly for the return of her Beloved Groom/King to take her to the House of His Father: the Chuppah and the Wedding Chamber.
Passover and Unleavened Bread are great times to reconfirm to our Beloved Groom that we are His Bride. This is the supreme wedding of the ages! Where are our Passover cups of acceptance? We are annually asked by our Groom to do this in remembrance. We can indeed remember our marriage in past, present, and future. This is the Groom and His Bride Season. Life is fresh and new in His Life. It is time to drink from the symbolic cup of the Messiah. May we each and all give thanks, remember, imagine the future anew, and watch for Him. Blessed be our Groom. With Love and Shalom,
