Can you help this Dove with a few questions that have be on my mind lately?

Where in the Bible (chapter and verse) does God’s Word tell us that he wants Christians to figure out date the rapture before it occurs?  What would be the purpose of knowing this date ahead of time?  Please note that I am not being critical of anyone who is trying to figure out the date; I am just trying to understand.
