Reva,
I will hold your family up in prayer and ask others to do
so as well.
I think what is happening to you and many others, is the
economy IS in recession. When GM, Ford and Chrysler are for all intents
and purposes in Bankruptcy......as are the major airlines......as is the mortgage
industry......and the whole real estate industry.....banking is laying off......ads
are running too low to support newspapers......the list goes on and on.....WE
ALREADY ARE IN A RECESSION FOLKS! No one wants come right out and say
the nasty "R" or the dreaded "D" word, but we are THERE! Consequently,
it stands to reason that your husband's insurance business is being impacted......domino
effect is rippling through most areas of the economy.
Goodness, Greenspan (our FORMER Fed Chairman), just whispers
the "R" word way over in Asia at a dinner party......and the entire global
stock markets immediately go "south". So this is why you will see officials
tip toe around this word. But in order to make good economic decisions,
you need to know this reality and respond accordingly.
From what I can tell, the situation is only going to get
worse....far worse. We are headed for the dreaded Stagflation, which
means recession at the same time as high interest rates and inflation.
This happened in the 1980's, and was not a pretty picture.
So, batten the hatches, make the appropriate adjustments
in your life to survive. I would say, with out knowing more about your
situation, that yes, you should look for a job if your husband's business
is drying up. Better to have one of you bringing in a paycheck, than
no one bringing one in. Someone has posted on Five Doves some good suggestions
regarding viable home-businesses. I can't recall who, or what day it
was. Maybe someone will repost those suggestions for you.
I'm going through difficult times too, so I can sympathize.
Let's pray for each other.
