"Wade Balzer"
I want to encourage about the storm in your life.
There are a couple of passages I would like to share with you that were
given to me when I was going through a similar struggle during a really
nasty divorce. It was not of my choosing. It was forced upon
me and I was in distress.
The first is Psalm 27 -
The Lord is my light and my salvation --- whom shall
I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life --- of whom shal
I be afraid?
When evil men advance against me to devour my flesh,
When my enemies and my foes attack me, they will stumble
and fall.
Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear;
Though war break out against me, even then will I be
confident
. . .
Then Psalm 42:5 - 43 -
Why are you so downcast, O my soul?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God for I will yet praise him, my Savior
and my God.
My soul is downcast within me; therefore I will remember
you ...
I say to God my Rock, "Why have you forgotten me?
Why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the enemy
?
My bones suffer mortal agony as my foes taunt me,
saying to me all day long, "Where is your God?"
Why are you downcast, O my soul?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior
and my God.
Vindicate me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly
nation;
rescue me from deceitful and wicked men.
You are God my stronghold.
Why have you rejected me?
Why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the enemy?
Send forth your light and your truth, let them guide
me;
let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place
where yo dwell
Then will I go to the altar of God, to God, my joy and
my delight.
I will praise you with the harp, O God, my God.
Why are downcast, O my soul?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior
and my God.
Fianlly Psalm 5 -
Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my sighing.
Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for to
you I pray.
In the morning, OLord, you hear my voice;
in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait
in expectation.
. . .
You destroy those who tell lies;
bloodthirsty and deceitful men the Lord abhors
. . .
Not a word from their mouth can be trusted;
their heart is filled with destruction.
Their throat is an open grave;
with their tongue they speak deceit;
Declare them guilty, O God!
Let their intrigues be their downfall.
Banish them for their many sins,
for they have rebelled against you.
But let all who take refuge in you be glad;
let them ever sing for joy.
Spread your protection over them
that those who love your name may rejoice in you.
For surely, O Lord, you bless the righteous;
you surround them with your favor as with a shield.
There is a story in the New Testament about the disciples
settingt out in a boat. Jesus sent them out and He stayed on the
shore. While they were out there a storm blew up. Now Jesus
is Lord and Master of the wind and the seas. He knew the storm was
going to come -but He sent them out anyway. When they called on Him,
He came to them and calmed the sea. The message I received from that
story is that sometimes He sends me out into life. He knows the storm
is going to hit me. He gives me the strength to weather the storm.
He is there. Matthew 14:22-3
May this encourage you.
