(and Doves read my little prayer at the end…..)
Hello
Garry, from probably one of the most over-enthusiastic “date setters”, and
who has been kicked off of other forums for “date setting”,,,,,,,but being
comfortable here at John’s Dove site,,,,a place where this shepherd (John),
has led his sheep to a corner of the field where there is meat in due season,,,,,,where
none say He delays His coming….
But I just
everywhere I look in the Word, I see our Great Redeemer, our Great Shepherd,
both for Israel and ourselves, His church.
As for scripture which might condone such date-searching,,,,first is
the fact that the prophets themselves searched “diligently” what “manner of
time…”
1 Peter
1:10-12
10 Of
which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied
of the grace that should come unto you: 11 Searching
what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them
did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the
glory that should follow. 12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not
unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported
unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost
sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into
Also,
the angels themselves peer into these things, as above,,,,and the scriptures
have been ministered unto us about the “glory that should follow” the sufferings
of Christ,,,and we indeed do look for the glory that follows our Lord’s suffering.
Abraham
was called a “friend” of God,,,,and God showed Abraham beforehand, what He
was going to do:
Genesis
18:17 And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I
do; 18 Seeing
that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations
of the earth shall be blessed in him? 19 For
I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him,
and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that
the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.
Jesus
also called us His “friends”:
John
1514 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. 15 Henceforth I call you not servants;
for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called
you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known
unto you.
Another
example would be Daniel, called by the visiting angel “beloved of the Lord”,,,,,Daniel
had studied very intently the Word of God, looking into “the time” of Israel’s
release from captivity…….he was given much more than just that,,,,he was shown
a great outline, including the date of the Messiah’s first coming to earth…
Daniel
9:2 In
the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of
the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet,
that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem. 3 And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer
and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:
Our
Father does not look upon our earnestness of knowing about our Saviour’s comings
to the earth, with lightness…..He greatly rewards His servants, who are watching,,,,such
as the parable where the servant had given his charges “meat in due season”…….made
the sheep aware of the soon coming of the Lord……….whereas the servant who
said “my Lord delayeth His coming”,,,,,was given over to some portion of the
tribulation years, to serve some time with the hypocrites.
BETTER THAT WE BE DATE-SETTERS, THOUGH OFTEN WRONG,,,THAN SETTLING
BACK INTO COMPLACENCY, AND BEGINNING TO EAT AND DRINK WITH THE WORLDLINGS…..
So,
our Lord says His “friends” will be allowed to know what He is about to do.
He stated this in a different manner, when speaking about the Holy
Spirit gift to us,,,who would lead us into all truth, and: would “show us
things to come”
John
16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you
into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall
hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. 14 He
shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
Paul
the apostle said we, who were of the day, would “see that day coming”,,,,,Jesus
indicated that at some point we were to “look up, for your redemption draws
near” (Luke 21)…………
We
are told to “wait and watch”, and that in this we would have the Spirit of
our Lord, as a guide….
Another
example is Joseph, who was given the interpretations of the abundance / famine
dreams of the pharaoh,,,and was thus able to prepare, and save many lives….
There
are examples all over the Bible, of God instructing His servants “go here,
go there,”, etc., and before His mighty appearances (Sinai, crossing of the
Jordan,
Passover),,,,He always wanted the people to be prepared and “sanctified” (set
apart)…..
I
think we are truly there,,,,,for I detect in many Christian’s experiences,,,,a
withdrawal from the world,,,,,,a dis-interest in the world, etc.
Jesus,
before He left the earth, said that He was going to send the Holy Spirit,
as “another comforter”,,,,,,,for in the absence of our Lord, He so graciously
provided this comfort and leading for us,,,,,,,
The
Holy Spirit, has led each and every Dove on this site,,,to come here and share,
and learn from one another……….each Dove has a particular “gift” to offer to
the group,,,,and the sharing has been a great feast for each one of us…….this
is a forum where many mature Christians have gathered,,,,,,who are earnestly
looking for His coming,,,,counting the days, counting the years, always hoping,
always praying,,,,,,this group has gone beyond the foundation laid by the
cross of Christ,,,,and looks also to His Glory, His Kingdom, His Redemption,,,,,,,,,,,this
group has left the baby’s milk, and truly desires the meat of His Word,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and
that, I think, results in all the “date setting” offered up by the Doves,,,,,,,,,for,
each time a date is set, and passes,,,,it results also in our knowing more
and more about Him, as we peer into the scriptures, like Daniel, to “know
the time”…………………….we shall surely as a group, receive crowns of “loving His
appearing”, though oft disappointed………
I
have prayed, John and Doves,,,,that also our Lord when we arrive to be with
Him,,,,,if He would consider giving each one of us a little golden dove pin…….so
we will be able to salute a dove when we are in heaven,,,,,FOREVER !!!
I have asked our Lord that also He give John a larger dove pin…………for
he has been our shepherd……..he has always encouraged,,,,never been judgmental…
