"Answer to Gary Boggs from Sonchild"

Hello Gary Boggs!    Re: After The Great Comission was given and who did it

Hope this a little help on Mark 16:15-20 and answer the question as to who
preached the gospel, cast out devils, spoke in tongues, took up serpents, did not die
from deadly drink, laid hands on the sick, raised the dead after the Gread Commission Jesus
gave to the believers.

Notice in these verses that Jesus tells of the behavior expected by "those who believe".

There is much more that is not told in detail that believers did after the Great Comission but here are some scriptures to help you get started on studying. These all happened after the Great Comission was given.

I have done this fairly hurriedly, so please overlook typos, and any duplicate posting, etc.

Acts 6:8 Stephen , full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.
(Stephen helped serve widows, but also did miracles, etc.)

Acts 8:4 Therefore, they that were abroad went everywhere preaching the Word. (This
after persecution from Saul (who later became Paul ). (Consider that Jesus said
that the Word would be confirmed with signs following)

Acts 8:5-7 [5] Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.
[6] And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
[7] For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.

Acts 11:22-24
[22] Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch.
[23] Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.
[24] For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.

Acts 11:25-27
[25] Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul:
[26] And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
[27] And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.(There were other prophets, besides Agabus)

Acts 11:28
[28] And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar.(Agabus was a prophet and operated
in this gift of the Holy Spirit, as he was baptized with the Holy Spirit
[29] Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judaea:

Acts 14:1-3
[1] Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.
[2] As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.
[3] And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.
.
[5] And when they were at Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John to their minister.

Acts 14:5-10
5] And when there was an assault made both of the Gentiles, and also of the Jews with their rulers, to use them despitefully, and to stone them,
[6] They (Paul and Barnabas) were ware of it, and fled unto Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and unto the region that lieth round about:
[7] And there they preached the gospel.
[8] And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother's womb, who never had walked:
[9] The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,
[10] Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.

Acts 15:22,[22] Then pleased it the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas, and Silas, chief men among the brethren:

Acts 15: 25-27 The brethren wrote letters to precede Judas and Silas ministry
[25] It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,
[26] Men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
[27] We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell you the same things by mouth.

Acts 15:32
[32] And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed them.

Acts 19:1-7
[1] And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,
[2] He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.
[3] And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.
[4] Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
[5] When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
[6] And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
[7] And all the men were about twelve.

I Corinthians 14:18
[18] I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:( Paul here talking to the
Corinthian church about himself.)

Acts 19:11-12
[11] And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:
[12] So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.

Acts 20:9-12 [9] And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.
[10] And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him.
[11] When he therefore was come up again, and had broken bread, and eaten, and talked a long while, even till break of day, so he departed.
[12] And they brought the young man alive, and were not a little comforted.

Acts 21-8-10

[8] And the next day we that were of Paul's company departed, and came unto Caesarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was one of the seven(speaking of the 7 men who cared for widows in the local
body); and abode with him.
[9] And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy.
[[10] And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judaea a certain prophet, named Agabus.

Acts 28:7-9

[7] In the same quarters were possessions of the chief man of the island, whose name was Publius; who received us, and lodged us three days courteously.
[8] And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him.
[9] So when this was done, others also, which had diseases in the island, came, and were healed:

Acts 28-3-6
[3] And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.
[4] And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.
[5] And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.

Philemon 1:1
[1] Paul, a prisoner of Jesus Christ, and Timothy our brother, unto Philemon our dearly beloved, and fellowlabourer,
Acts 20:4
[4] And there accompanied him into Asia Sopater of Berea; and of the Thessalonians, Aristarchus and Secundus; and Gaius of Derbe, and Timotheus; and of Asia, Tychicus and Trophimus. (These ministered the gospel )
Acts 19:22
22 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in him was yea.

It is important here to remember that Paul was not even born again until a few years after
Jesus crucifixtion and resurrection and didn't begin ministering until he received the Holy
Spirit.

After the ascension of Jesus, believers who were present in the upper room were filled with
the Holy Ghost.
Acts.2
[1] And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
[2] And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
[3] And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
[4] And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
[5] And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.

Acts 1 Believers came to the upper room to receive the Holy Spirit (the promise of the
Father). There were 120 people there , including Mary and other women. They all
spoke in tongues, and were equipped by the Holy Spirit with power to witness..

[12] Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey.
[13] And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James.
[14] These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.
[15] And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,)

Acts 1:8 Jesus explaining the need for the receiving of the Holy Ghost....just before his ascension said

[8] But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. (This was speaking of the
infilling of the Holy Ghost they  would receive on the Day of Pentecost, and was the Promise of the Father for
all believers)

Acts 10 44-47

44] While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
[45] And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
[46] For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
[47] Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

John 14 : 12  Jesus said
[12] Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
