"Rapture or Service"

What is wrong with the attitude "I can't wait till the rapture, and the
Lord takes me out of here"?

If the Lord could have taken a similar attitude toward a world of lost
people, I wonder, would He have come down from His throne of glory?

The prayer we were given to pray was not, "take me before you come with
your kingdom." Rather, it was "thy kingdom come, thy will be done" (
Matt. 6:10).

The Spirit and the Bride do not say "Take me" (Rev 22. 17). They say
"COME". Those who have heard the good news, do not say, "this is when we
shall be taken". They say "COME."  The testimony of those who who are
faithful, do not say "This will be the day I'm taken out of here". NO!
What they say is, "He that gives testimony of these things, will say:
Surely, I come quickly: Amen. Come, Lord Jesus" (Rev. 2:20).

As I see it, service should be foremost in our minds - not the rapture.
Serving the Lord with all our heart, with all our mind, and with all our
strength. And if we are serving, and learning as we are serving, how to
be priests in the service of our Great High Priest, and how to rule with
the mind of Christ as Kings for the King of Kings, then these shall
surely be rapture ready, when that day comes. On the other hand, if the
focus is on when it will happen, I tend to think these shall fall into
the category of those 5 virgins who had no added oil in their lamps, and
were not actually prepared for the Bridegroom, when He did appear.

The overwhelming majority of the New Testament concerns itself with
teaching God's own about growing into maturity - full spiritual stature.
To that end we are provided instruction as to the numerous and varied
pitfalls there are to prevent growth from occurring. Compare this to the
fact that there are only a few obscure passages that relate to the
rapture. Hmmmm! Think God is trying to tell us what's really important to
Him?

Who are those that are Rapture ready? Wouldn't it be those who are
praying, "Lord, people are lost, and dying; the world will soon be filled
with turmoil such as it has never seen (Dan. 12:1). Grant me that I might
stay, and serve, to be a shining testimony, to share your light and life
to others."? What greater opportunity will their be, to serve, than at
such a time. With the focus on when I get to redeem my ticket out of
here, I sometimes wonder, have we really learned what it is to be priests
and kings. Which do you think would be more akin to "the mind of Christ":
"I'm ready, take me", or "Here am I Lord, send me" (Isa. 6:8)?
