When the Caliphate was at his HEIGTH during OMAYAD RULE
A palace coup dethroned the the OMAYADS e replaced them with the ABASSIDS
as a result AL ANDALUS (Spain) breaked away and the surviving OMAYADS estabilished there an INDIPENDENT EMIRATE.
About twenty years later CALIPHATE WAS SHATTERED in TEN (YES!) EMIRATES (see map)
