One thing to watch out for at Mark 16:16 (coupled with Acts 2:38) is the Cambellite teaching that water baptism by an elder of their church is a requirement for salvation. Whenever we read "baptism" we should not assume it means "water baptism" - we are spiritually baptised into Christ. The municipal water system can't wash away sin and has nothing to do with salvation, except as a "figure".

Part of the problem is confusing John the Baptist's necessary ministry of the baptism of repentance to the Jews with the church's gospel of the grace of God taught by Paul. We go with Paul, even if Jesus during his ministry, and early in the book of Acts it appears like Peter was preaching water baptism. They were - but this was to the Jews prior to the revelations over those very early years through St. Paul.
