"The Da Vinci Code, the movie"

Dear friends:

Last night TBN had an outstanding interview with apologetics expert, Josh McDowell, concerning the upcoming movie, The Da Vinci Code, based on the popular book by the same name.

The movie is scheduled for release on May 19, 2006 with superstar Tom Hanks and produced by popular producer Ron Howard.  The movie promises to be a blockbuster and will be hailed by the ignorant masses, most of whom are already on their way to hell.  This movie will help them along.

I believe The Da Vinci Code is a major influence toward the end-time apostasy spoken of in the Bible, which will be greatly accelerated when the movie comes out.  If 2006 is as prophetically significant a year as many believe, the timing of this movie release and the onslaught on the Christian faith are significant.

Like the book, the movie is a fictional work but diabolically uses and twists the Bible and history.  The problem is that most Christians are so ignorant of the Bible and church history that they will not be able to sort out the difference.  The result is that most viewers will walk away with anti-biblical and heretical ideas planted in the minds and not even realize it.  There are already reports that some so-called Christians have given up on their faith after reading the book.  The Hollywood treatment and the star status of Tom Hanks will greatly boost the movie's power.

A summary of some of the major historical and biblical errors of the book and movie is at

THIS WILL HELP YOU USE THE MOVIE AS A WITNESS.  Josh McDowell has prepared a small book that addresses the errors and explains the truth.  The Da Vinci Code: A Quest for Answers is a 128-page book aimed specifically at questions raised by the movie. It is described as an easy-to-read, positive book with a downloadable study guide that will equip youth and adults with rock-solid answers. ( more).  See http://www.josh.org/. Josh says, "Prepare now to approach this with a positive readiness. Seize this unique opportunity to open compelling dialogue about the real and relevant Christ."

What the devil means for evil, God will use for good and His purposes.  The devil always loses and God always wins!

We need to be concerned, but not worried that this or any other book or movie will cause one of God's chosen to lose his soul.  Jesus said that we do not choose Him, but that He chooses us.  He also said, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand" (John 10:27-29).
