Munich (3/23/06). By now, 165,000 viewers at 1,250 broadcast-venues Europe-wide were following the fifth ProChrist evening at the Munich Olympic Arena. In addition to them were the 9,600 people via internet, for the first time also out of India, China, Brazil and Argentina. But there was something that connected them much more than web and satellite: this evening, Europe's largest Church service stood up for the Afghan prisoner, Abdul Rahman, who is being threatened with the death penalty on account of becoming a Christian.
During the evening, 4,000 visitors in the Olympic Arena looked upon the cross that glowed over the stage. On this night, the goal of ProChrist was present in a special way: "God is a merciful God", Ulrich Parzany said in conclusion, "and that's why He connects with the needy. He approaches us in the poor, sick, imprisoned and in the strangers.“ This was his motivation to publicly call upon everybody's committment to the Afghan prisoner, Abdul Rahman, whose situation has caused disbelief and horror world-wide: A former muslim converted to Christianity, standing trial and faced with the death penalty.
