My Precious Helen

She has made the trip to glory,
She doesn’t live here anymore;
She has gone to be with Jesus,
On Heaven’s eternal shore.

She loved the dear Lord Jesus,
With all her heart and soul;
And lived each day to please Him,
To exalt Him was her goal.

She witnessed in her letters,
In her speech and in her life;
What a blessing and a joy
To have her as my wife.

The Lord gave us eleven years,
Of marriage sweet and true;
To share the grace of life together,
Before her course was through.

What a sweetheart, what a friend,
What a sister filled with love;
How blessed I was to have her,
What a treasure from above.

She was humble in her spirit,
Meek and kind and true;
Always reaching out to others,
To everyone she knew.

But now the Lord has taken her,
To that glorious home on high;
The place prepared by Jesus,
Way out yonder in the sky.

No more sickness, no more pain,
No more suffering, no more death;
No more sorrow, no more crying,
No more struggling for another breath.

It is me that’s stooped in sorrow,
I so miss her touch and smile;
But I stand upon God’s promises,
It’s just for a little while.

I cannot bring my dear one back,
Or change what has been;
But I can go to meet her,
When this present life shall end.

Yea, I shall meet all of God’s children,
All who have been saved by grace;
“Wherefore comfort one another with these words,”
Until we reach that happy place.
