Gary Stearman in his latest article called Hamas: rashing The Roadmap To Peace at http://www.prophecyinthenews.com/articledetail.asp?Article_ID=171 states the following:
As we have often pointed out in the past, the great irony of the Hamas movement is that their very name – Hamas – is the Hebrew word root for "violent" or "violence."
It is found dozens of times in the Old Testament, the first incidence occurring in Genesis:"The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence" (Genesis 6:11).Here, the word, "violence" is hamas [xnj] in Hebrew. Other verses using the word in exactly the same way are as follows:"The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth" (Psalm 11:5)."Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment" (Psalm 73:6).
In the Hebrew language, the word "violent" is also expressed by the word hamas [xnj]. The following are but a sample of many similar examples:O God, the proud are risen against me, and the assemblies of violent men have sought after my soul; and have not set thee before them" (Psalm 86:14)."A violent man enticeth his neighbour, and leadeth him into the way that is not good" (Proverbs 16:29).
Psalm 140 is a prayer of David, for protection against the violent man. The following three verses are selected as an example of the biblical view of hamas:
"Deliver me, O LORD, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man;
"Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow my goings.
"Let not an evil speaker be established in the earth: evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow him" (Psalm 140: 1,4,11).
In today’s Gaza, Hamas is poised on the brink of what they view as their great moment in history. Their map to the future – as drawn by Mohammed – originated in the seventh century. His followers are slavishly devoted to his course … the course of violence.
It is the same everywhere in the Islamic world. Now, say Islamic clerics, the time has come to move out in world domination. They firmly believe that Israel’s days are numbered. They are, of course, ignorant of God’s stated purpose in the Bible, and therefore, are deeply mistaken.
