"re-donna"

Donna, I am so NOT suprised to read your post. I am finding that this is not isolated either just unreported and damped down. Personally, My girls have no option but to go to a girls catholic school here in the west of Ireland as there are no other kinds of High schools in the town and only mixed catholic schools elsewhere here in the west!! We have had to pull them out of phys ed. because it was weeks of meditation and learning chants to sun god worship (all of it sitting down so not an awful lot of phys ed there!) Our girls are constantly being ridiculed by teachers for being 'evangelical'  something which neither of them have proffessed to being so it must be their righteous walk the teachers are objecting to. Just yesterday my oldest was involved in a class debate for an History class where in the teacher ask the pupils to write down what constituted being a Christian. She gave a good account of herself, giving what she thought was correct biblical doctrine... Jesus was the Son of God, He was born of the virgin mary, He died for our sins, was raised on the third day to give us life etc.... the teacher told her 'rubbish' you don't know what you're talking about. Incidently, the catholic friend sitting next to her wrote the same thing (there was a bit of copying done as the girl didn't know what the doctrines were) and she was told well done! She is used to him victimising her and doesn't argue back as he gets very angry and starts swearing at her. We have had to pull them out of religeous ed. because of the constant sarcastic ridiculing and taunts, NOT from the pupils but from the teacher. Incredibly the girls in class are asking our girls about God, their beliefs and for help in understanding the bible which is not the desired effect the teacher wants and has been telling parents (on parents evening) of some school friends to keep clear of them and avoid going out to christian events with them. So now the girls can't even invite them to a christian cafe they go to or w/end long christian camps anymore. When asked yesterday in geography class how the Jews got their identity one of my girls explained how God had led the Israelites from Egypt, through the desert for forty years, gave them the land He had promised them... etc.... and once again was rudely corrected. According to the teacher the Jews were origionally palestinions and had no business being where they were!!! Naturally, I have told my children that no pupil is greater than their teacher and if Jesus suffered sarcasm, rudeness, hate and so on from the pharasees then they must expect the same from others. We must bless those that hate us and persecute us and pray for them. Time is running out and I fear for them.
