"The DaVinci Code and the BRIDE"

This message is from Charlene Foster, a missionary in Turkey:

Next month "The DaVinci Code" is going to come out.  The book
is already amazingly popular among Turks, and they are inclined to take
it
as truth.

A couple weeks ago I had an interesting conversation with my friend's
daughter, "Tulip".  The daughter is intensely interested in religious
things, but under the very firm control of her uncle, who is a
"hac".  Meaning that he made the prescribed trip to Mecca.  Meaning that
he
is quite serious about the rules of Islam. Like most women, her mother
(my
friend) prefers to talk about what I'm cooking for dinner, or whether or
not I've written my mother lately.  (Seriously, mom.  She checks on me
every time, and gets on my case if I haven't!)  But she'll tolerate her
daughter asking me questions, as long as the uncle doesn't find out.

Back to the point..."Tulip" had read "The DaVinci Code" and wanted to
know
if it was true that Jesus married Mary Magdalene.  If not, why DIDN"T he
get married.  She pointed to all the prophets who had gotten married...
so
why not Jesus?  We talked a lot about Jesus being more than a prophet,
and
pure and having come specifically to die on the cross.  But I knew that I

wasn't getting to the heart of her question.

I kept thinking about it that evening, and then it hit me.  I should have

told her about the BRIDE!  That Jesus didn't come and marry one woman, he

came to take us -- the church -- as his bride.  And then it hit me
again.  THAT's why the book has come into prominence.  Satan is taking a
shot at what the Lord is bringing to the forefront right now:  the
relationship of intimacy between a believer and Jesus.  Jesus didn't just

come wanting a relationship with Mary Magdalene.  He came wanting a
relationship with Tulip -- he wants her for his bride too.

So, I guess Hollywood is about to force the issue.  I got kind of excited

thinking about the discussions which are going to be generated by that
film.  May God turn it to good!!
