"Babylon"

John:

Those who are of the opinion that Babylon is the United States might
want to read my posting of 11-15-04 regarding this subject.

"Babylon"

John:

Most people would be surprised to learn that the land of Iraq, which is
very much in the news today, was once called the land of Babylon.  What
we are seeing happen before our eyes in Iraq is setting the stage for
the rapid rise of Babylon.  Iraq will be rebuilt eventually in a
relatively short time, and will become the economic and commercial
capital of the world.  It will  also become the world capital of evil
run by the anti-christ.  Eleven percent of the book of Revelation is
devoted to one subject - Babylon.  Evil began here after the flood, and
will be focused in the later days in Babylon.   Idolatry and false
religion began here, and will end here when Babylon is destroyed by God
(Revelation 18).

It is interesting that the Israel Today Magazine of January 12, 2004,
had the following to say:  "Triggered by the Iraq war, informed sources
say that the International Quartet of world powers (the United States,
United Nations, European Union, and Russia) has drafted a proposal to
transfer the seat of the United Nations to Baghdad (ancient Babel or
Babylon)!  The move would relieve the space constraint of the New York
Headquarters, while also freeing it from the physical jurisdiction of
the U.S."

The rebuilding of Babylon probably will not take place until some time
during the last half of the Tribulation Period of seven years, which
will begin soon after the Rapture of the born-again Christians.

Many significant things took place in Babylon starting with the creation
of the Garden of Eden,  Adam and Eve, and the building of Noah's Ark.
The first world empire was here, and the last world empire will end
here.  Perhaps we would do well to consider the grand scheme of things
from the viewpoint of the Great Director.
