March 29, 2005(CNSNews.com) - United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan Tuesday rejected the suggestion that he step down amid the controversy regarding the oil-for-food program and instead urged his son to cooperate fully with the investigation.
Asked by a reporter at a press conference, "Do you feel it's time for the good of the organization to step down," Annan responded, "Hell no!"
This comes on the same day that a second interim report regarding the investigation into the oil-for-food program was released, revealing that there is no proof that Annan knew of his son Kojo's connection with Cotecna, which received a humanitarian goods inspection contract in 1998.
Kojo worked for the company from 1995 to December 1997 and continued on as a consultant until the end of 1998.
