The ACLJ has declared that an opinion issued by the California Attorney General in late 2004 is "outrageous" and "dangerous." The opinion requires schools not to tell parents when their child is excused for medical appointments - including abortions. Congress is considering federal legislation that would require schools to communicate with parents on these issues. We will work for passage of that legislation. All the more reason not to put your kids in the California public schools. They are seizing what has been traditional parental functions of childrearing.
