"Good Reading"

Hi John & All:

A short while ago I recommended a book (for just the second time), that I thought would make for some really good reading, and a great tool for Christian witnessing. The book is called: "Jesus" and is written by Leith Anderson (ISBN 0-7642-24794).

Well much to my enjoyment, I have found yet a third book worthy of recommendation. It is called: "In The Presence of My Enemies", and written by Gracia Burnham. Some of you may have read this very good book, but for those who haven't it is the story of a young married American couple who travelled to the Philippines, to perform Christian ministry to those Filipinos living in the more remote areas of the country. While celebrating their wedding anniversary, they were kidnapped in the middle of the night by the Islamic terrorist organization known as Abu Sayyaf (with ties to Osama Bin Laden), in the days just prior to the horrific events of 9-11. The book tells the story of their year long capitivity in the jungles of the southernmost Philippines province, known as Mindanao, and how they grew in faith despite the terrible daily ordeals they faced.

I have to tell you that reading this book made me rethink all the times I have run out of patience with people (my "specialty"), or whined and complained to God about something. It certainly gave me a whole new perspective and source of inspiration for my future Christian growth.

See ya in the air,

Eric
