"THE KING OF THE NORTH IN
DANIEL 11:40-45?"
Dear John
& Doves,
I
would be the last person that would want to lead anyway astray by interpretting
the book of Daniel incorrectly. However, if the king of the north
in Daniel 11:40-45 is actually the Beast-Antichrist, doesn't it then make
more sense that in verse 40 he is coming against the king of the south
who pushed against him rather than the 2 other kings of the north located
in Syria & Iraq coming against the king of the north in Lebanon (the
Beast-Antichrist) which was my previous explanation in my recent post at
http://www.fivedoves.com/letters/mar2005/donnad33-1.htm
which was based on the fact that the king of the north (Antiochus III)
at one time controlled Lebanon, Syria, & Iraq.
First
of all, if you read Daniel 11:36-39, it shows a King who exalts himself
and magnifies himself above every god which sounds like the Antichrist
Beast. He also honors the god of forces and regards not the God of
his fathers. Then in verses 40-45 we read the following, and see
if what I have written inside of parentheses in blue
font makes sense to you.
Daniel
11:40 "And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him
(king of north, the Beast-Antichrist?):
and the king of the north (the Beast-Antichrist?)
shall come against him (king of the south)
like a whirlwind with chariots, and with horesemen, and with many ships;
and he (king of the north, The Beast-Antichrist?)
shall enter into the countries, and shall
overflow and pass over. 41 He (king of the
north, the Beast-Antichrist?) shall enter
into the glorious land (Israel),
and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his
hand, even E-dom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon. 42
He (king of the north, the Beast-Antichrist?)
shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt
shall not escape. 43 But he (king of the north,
the Beast-Antichrist?) shall have power over
the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of
Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps.
But tidings out of the east (Persia in Ezekiel
38:5? and/or the kings of the east in the Far East in Rev. 16:12?)
and out of the north (Gog, the land of Magog
in Ezekiel 38:2?) shall trouble him (king
of the north, the Beast-Antichrist?): therefore
he (king of the north, the Beast-Antichrist?)
shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly sway many. 45 And
he (king of the north, the Beast-Antichrist?)
shall plant the tabernacle of his palace between the seas in the glorious
holy mountain (Jerusalem according to Isaiah
66:20); yet he shall come to his end, and
none shall help him." Daniel 12:1 "And at that time shall Michael
stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of the people:
and there shall be a time of trouble (Matthew
24:21-22), such as never was since there was
a nation even to the same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered,
every one that shall be found written in the book."
According
to Revelation 11:2, the gentiles will tread the holy city of Jerusalem
underfoot for forty-two months so it looks like the Beast-Antichrist would
have Israel under his control just like king of the north, Antiochus IV
Epiphanes, of the Seleucid Kingdom did who sacrificied the unclean pig
on the altar in the temple in Jerusalem. Israel (then known as Palestine)
and Lebanon had come under the control of his father Antiochus III in 200
B.C. when he won it in the Ptolemaic Wars from Egypt according to this
Map 90 of the Seleucid Kingdom under Antiochus III at http://www.studylight.org/se/maps/browse.cgi?st=120#090
Previously Israel & Lebanon including its cities of Tyre & Tripolis
(Tripoli) had been under the control of Alexander the Great's general Ptolemy
according to this map showing the division of Alexander the Great's Grecian
Empire at http://www.studylight.org/se/maps/browse.cgi?st=120#088
and map 89: Palestine Under the Ptolemies at http://www.studylight.org/se/maps/browse.cgi?st=120#089
shows Israel and the cities of Tyre & Sidon in Lebanon under the control
of the Ptolemaic Kingdom until the king of the north of the Seleucid Kingdom,
Antiochus III, later took control of them. So if the Beast-Antichrist
as king of the north has control of Lebanon & Israel which were areas
of land that Antiochus III, king of the north controlled in the Seleucid
Kingdom, Biblical history would be repeating itself all over again.
God
bless you,
