Dear John & Doves,Please read the statements below from an article at http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/B4D11B92-DC8C-45B0-A16F-43D04B2F30A1.htm Since Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto to the Father, but by me", there is no way that the origin of all celestial religions could be one nor can their message be one; and there would have been no point in Jesus dying on the cross for the sins of the world if all religious people in the world could enter the kingdom of heaven through just good behavior and obedience to God without the forgiveness of sins offered through Jesus' death on the cross and through his shed blood. They would have no need of a savior and a redeemer if everyone was saved by good works. As for stating that Religions do not conflict, why then are Moslems killing off Christians and Jews if their religions don't conflict?
"The origin of all celestial religions is one, and their message is one, and that is to propagate virtue, good behaviour and obedience to God," said Muhammad Sayyid Tantawi, the grand shaikh of Al-Azhar, Sunni Islam's most prestigious centre of learning.
Pope Shenouda III, the head of the Coptic Orthodox Church, told the meeting he rejected the idea of a conflict of religions or civilizations. "Religions do not conflict but they endeavour to promote sublime human values and spread them through tolerance, peace, love and cooperation," he said.
