In our World Book encyclopedia (cia. 1965)  the Zodiac was described as experiencing a "slippage" that started "about 2000 years ago" at the time of the printing.  The article said the earth's axis changed and the signs have slipped westward to almost the next division.

Do let me know if this is incorrect as it is the assumption I've been going by because I think it is important.
