Dear John, MathMan and all:First, MathMan, I sincerely commend you for an outstanding piece of scholarship.Going forward - Jesus gave us a formula for discipleship: "baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost" and then "teaching them to observe all that I have commanded." As many of you know, this has been badly twisted in two directions: 1) you can't be saved unless you are immersed in water (a lie) and 2) water baptism is unnecessary (another lie). This may come into focus with MathMan's observation concerning the mikveh. MathMan quoted:“Prior to the wedding day, the bride is required to visit the mikveh, the ritual bath, and immerse herself, to ensure a purified spiritual state as she prepares herself for married life. The bride must show proof of having visited the mikveh before she is eligible to sign the marriage contract.”We've discussed before whether all in the Church are in the Bride, and it may be that those who choose salvation but opt out of discipleship, or those who choose to NOT "visit the mikveh" DISQUALIFY THEMSELVES from being the Bride.I won't be dogmatic; it's not my job. But I would strongly suggest that any of you who have not been baptized do a quick Bible study on it and proceed accordingly.Hope to see you all very, very soon.Best,Steve
