I have noticed several commercials lately about buying emergency supply kits one call a 72 hour kit (the suggested time frame you need to have supplies for says the government) another touts it is water proof, floats, lights up, and other things. Seems odd to have these. Yes we have had many tornados but the 72 hour kit started before those. makes you wonder.

Costco and Sam's club are both selling emergency food rations... ie: a three month supply of food for 2 or a year supply of food for a family of 4. I noticed it at Costco a few months ago and more recently at Sam's club.  If you search either site for emergency food, you will find a large selection to choose from.  Why would major store chains get into this at this time? Do they know something they aren't telling us?  Something similar was going on at the end of 1999, but not to the extent it is now.  I just find it very odd as if they've been informed of something.  (It seems a bit early for December 2012).
