Discovered only less than a week before its arrival, the asteroid called "2011 MD" will pass near earth by the space of about 7,500 miles ( similar in distance between California and Israel ). This will occur on Monday June 27th, California time around 10:00 am. It will be about the size of a tour bus.

It will pass through the communication satellite zone ( which is positioned about 22,000 miles above the earth ).

It will pass so close to our sphere of gravity, that our gravitational force will alter the course of the asteroid, ( meaning that the asteroid could be pulled in closer ( Doesn't gravity pull inwards towards the earth ? )

"The asteroid will pass so close that Earth's gravity will sharply alter the asteroid's trajectory."

This is the second closest fly-by this year . Five months ago, on February 4th, the asteroid 2011 CQ1 passed closer by half as many miles .. 3, 400 miles. ( approximately the breadth of the United States )

They are out there. They are close. They are increasing in frequency.
