My husband called me about a month ago from a jobsite saying - you've got to go look at the sun!  I went out and took a picture, and I had a duplicate photo of your's.
The solar halo is actually formed by ice crystals in cirrus clouds.  It's so beautiful and resulted in a lovely storm for us later in the day.
