"Devorahli Rod RE: Not Palestine but Israel"

Hi,

Re your  post: http://www.fivedoves.com/letters/june2009/drod629.htm

Re my post http://www.fivedoves.com/letters/june2009/shanthini627-2.htm

Thank you for pointing out  this important misconception, which I am quite aware of .... only problem was that when I wrote my comments   “Is this the beginning of the war with Lebanon, Palestine & Syria, this summer- the destruction of Edom & Damascus?”  instead of writing Palestinians, I wrote Palestine, since I was mentioning countries as you would note,  and not people.  Since Gaza has been handed  over to the Palestinians and the successive presidents of USA,  and not to mention the ‘quartets’ are  on the way to producing a statehood of Palestine comprising of Gaza and West Bank, including the Western Wall and the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, as well as wanting Israel to go back to the pre-1967 borders,  I wrote Palestine.

Moreover, I could not possibly put Israel, instead of Palestine, then my comments would not make any sense.  It would appear that Israel is fighting against Israel.  It would read  thus: “Is this the beginning of the war with Lebanon, Israel and Syria, this summer- the destruction of Edom and Damascus?”   The article states that Israel has amassed her army along the Lebanon border. Furthermore the Israelis are  always talk about a three-prong attack, and this means they would be attacking Syria (Damascus- Isaiah 17), Lebanon, and the Palestinians (Edom is the ancient name for Palestine, which I am sure you must be quite well versed with, in Isaiah 34:5-13) In Isaiah 34:5-13 our Lord states Edom instead of Israel/Holy Land.  Hence  I hope you would forgive me for writing Palestine and not  Israel  in that particular context or perhaps I should stick to the Bible and the word of God and  say “Edom”?
