In January 1989 I was supernaturally called by God to leave San Francisco, my home and where I got saved, and go to Southern California. My closest friends (Christian and not) had "wakes" for me......as no one goes TO LA, they LEAVE LA and go to SF or other places. But I was called with no question, experiencing a "visitation" from Jesus.... that I was out of His will if I didn't go!
So, of course, I went!
I was unhappy to say the least to leave so many great Christians friends behind and family.
But once I got here I discovered TBN Christian TV, and MASSIVE CHURCHES which for a very thirsty Christian coming from a missionary outpost seemed a God Send!
A year or so later, I heard that Larry Lea was going to go to my hometown: San Francisco ON Halloween, October 31, 1990!
When I called my devoted Christian SF friends and told them about this (TBN was not aired in 95% of SF area). They were afraid to go to downtown SF for a PRAYER MEETING on Halloween, they didn't care WHO was coming! I said if they wouldn't go, I would drive 500 miles to come up from So. CA.!
So I did! I took time off from work, and fasted and sang all the way up to SF from LA (a 7-9 hour drive).
I had some professional friends who lived in SF who said if I drove up they would go with me. (nervously hoping I wouldn't come!)
Well, I don't know if anyone remembers this event, but it caught mainstream news interest in San Franciso.
Larry Lea was made out to be the antichrist visiting Holy San Francisco! I wanted to vomit!
We got to the location where the PRAYER MEETING was to be held, and sure enough every KOOK and HOMO in SF was there to "protest" this ABOMINATION of "CHRISTIANS PRAYING IN SAN FRANCISCO"!! Since it was Halloween the high holy night for the satanists, these people were all dressed accordingly.......freaky to say the least....a lot of nudity.....to say the least.
My friends were scared to death but we persevered. I knew this was TEST of GOD......is He real or not? He is greater than these demonic spirits or not???
The few Christians who showed up for this event were gathered (huddled) out front of the auditorium where the PRAYER MEETING was to be held, but because of the negative news coverage AND all the HOMO protesters, the ushers refused to let anyone into the hall!
I grabbed the hands of my frightened friends and together we closed our eyes and we prayed.... calling on the Blood of Jesus and the Power of the Holy Spirit to intervene! We were afraid to open our eyes for fear someone would hit us or something.......the protestors were right next to us!
But to our astonishment!.......suddenly the ushers came out with a loud speakers (15 minutes after the prayer meeting was to start) and directed all the "protestors" to go across the street.......and to everyone's astonishment, these disorderly demonic protestors DID IT!!!.....peacefully!!!!
Then for those in line to enter to Prayer Meeting, we were bodily searched and had to go through metal detectors to get INTO a Prayer Meeting!!! .....can you believe it?.....in America?????
We did it.........and WHAT A NIGHT THAT WAS IN PRAYER AND WORSHIP!!! The annointing of the Holy Spirit was so thick you could hardly stand or breath! It was Heavenly!
When we left, my proper and upright professional friends (that I was staying with), got into their Mercedes Benz and we drove through the streets of San Francisco........proclaiming that Jesus was Lord, and that Jesus Loves YOU and that Jesus was coming SOON!!! I mean we were hanging out the windows yelling and laughing and singing songs.......laughing and laughing.......as though we were drunk.......but we hadn't had a drop of anything!
The next morning when we got up, I said "We were drunk in the spirit!" I don't know if that was scriptural but that is what happened to us!
They fully agreed. It was an unusual experience, something I or they hadn't heard of or ever experienced before. This was long before the Toronto and Pensecoloa thing. (But recall that on Pentecost the Christians were called "drunk"....I think God gave us a taste of what happened to the Apostles and those Christians gathered with them on the day of Pentecost when the Spirit was Given.)
This happened to us.......a group of 3 people who had the courage to face down Satan in SAN FRANCISCO on Halloween Night of all things!.....the high holy night of evil! Not only did we survive without a scratch, it was a spiritually memorable experience of how GREAT our GOD really IS!
Lesson Learned? If God calls you to UNGODLY places, don't be afraid.....just pray.....and GOD will BE WITH YOU!!!
I am reminded of this night way back in 1990, because this music (see link below) reminds me of that night for some reason........saints: DANCE in the Spirit.......Sing in the Spirit......God is ALIVE AND WELL even with the Antichrist on the rise......the antichrist is NOTHING compared to OUR GOD who is AWESOME and NOTHING STOPS HIM or HIS PURPOSES!!!!!
AND WHEN our time is finished THEN you can be SURE HE HIMSELF will COME FOR US!!!!!

PS: Sad to say that Larry Lea was "busted" in the media for living in a lavish mansion RIGHT AFTER THIS POWERFUL PRAYER MEETING! But in my mind, he was a true man of God......he had the courage to face the furnaces of satan, did it, and successed and God Blessed this event. Christians in SF were so dominated by satanic forces there they were too afraid to even come out to this "prayer meeting"!??? But God showed Himself stronger than the enemy.....a GREAT lesson learned!
Unfortunately, shortly after this great victory, Larry Lea had some vices that gave cause for satan to diminish his ministry. Lesson Learned? If you are going to take on satan, you better be squeaky clean from a spiritual stand point.
But Larry Lea stands TALL in my opinion......he had the courage to take on satan in satan's domain......that took great courage and it was a MASSIVE SUCCESS thanks be to GOD ALMIGHTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was a tremendous boust to the oppressed but faithful Christians in San Francisco, CA.
Who knows how many HOMOs eventually got saved from this Prayer Meeting???? Only God Knows!!
Interestingly enough, never again has anyone had the courage to take on the satanic forces in downtown SAN FRANCISCO on Halloween night. Sad.
