"Bible Roulette-- ?"
Anyone here ever do Bible roulette? - Well, it
may be called something else, but I got the idea from a southern preacher
many years ago who said he sometimes does this --- I certainly don't make
a common habit of it, but once in a great while I have done this after
prayer --- or for example ---when I have been undergoing an especially
difficult trial --You don't cast lots or anything - you just pray and ask
God a question, then hold your Bible and close your eyes, open it and with
closed eyes---randomly put your fingers on a section of the page that you
opened? I have done this before where I hold the Bible in my hand
and just close my eyes and let it fall open where it will and put my fingers
randomly on one of the pages with eyes shut. Well, this may not be scriptural,
but I do know that they cast lots in the Old Testament to get answers from
God - I did this today --I did it after studying my Bible, then praying
- I closed my eyes and asked God if indeed He were coming this year ---and
when I opened my eyes, my fingers had landed on Isaiah 63:3-4:
"I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was
none with me; for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in
my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will
stain all my rainment. For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the
year of my redeemed is come."
Maranatha!
