The Mark of the Beast is instituted by the false
prophet and is described at Revelation 13: 16-18;
and he causeth all, both small and great, rich
and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand or in their
foreheads; and that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the
name of the beast, or the number of his name, Here is wisdom. Let him that hath
understanding count the number of
the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is six hundred
threescore and six (666).
My understanding of the end-times and rapture
timing doesn't preclude the Anti-Christ from working to establish his government
prior to the treaty (covenant) that he confirms that begins the seven year
tribulation period, therefore we as Christians could be around when he is beginning to set up
the one world government with its oppressively regulated commerce and religion.
However, if we who are Christians now are not around for these events, those who
will become believers during the tribulation most certainly will.
Satan's name means deceiver, he deceived one-third
of the angelic hosts into following his rebellion. These were angels who saw
God, who fellowshipped with God face to face, who ate with God, who were in the
presence of God, who saw His glory and majesty up close and personal. Therefore
if Satan can deceive the angelic hosts that lived in the presence of God than
there is no doubt in my mind that he can deceive and defeat Christians,
including me. (See verses above
concerning end time activities against Christians).
Hasn't Jesus said that for false christs and false
prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if
possible even the elect (Mat 24:24).
The technology for the Mark of the Beast is in the
world and the governmental
authorities and facilities to implement it are in place.
I have heard or seen mentioned in various
prophetic articles how 666 was in the UPC but whenever I looked at the bar code
on a grocery item I never saw it, so I always thought this was Christian
Conspiracy mumbo jumbo.
Very briefly I'll explain how the UPC works. Also,
the inventor George Laurer admits
that 666 is inherently within the UPC and he addresses this in his web site
devoted to the UPC in a separate section titled Questions about the UPC and the
New Testament (do a search for George Laurer or the UPC and you will get
directed to his web site at http://bellsouthpwp.net/l/a/laurergj/UPC/index.html).
Please view his web site as it is very
informative, he appears to be a
typical old fashioned American engineergive him a problem and he could solve
it.
The UPC was invented on purpose by IBM in 1971 to
identify grocery items so stores could track inventory and eventually get rid of
the labor costs associated with check out cashiers. Most grocery stores now have
a self check-out where you can check out without a cashier by simply scanning my
grocery items. IBM wanted to sell the equipment and the programs that would
allow this. This is nothing but good old American ingenuity and capitalism. The
man who developed this system was an IBM engineer named George Laurer. The UPC
is designed so that no matter which direction the bar code is scanned the
computer will be able to identify the item. There are two sets of numbers
represented by bar codes, a set on the right hand side and a set on the left
hand side. The bar codes for the numbers on the right side are different from
the bar codes for the numbers on the left side so the computer can tell which
side it is reading, thus the bar code for the number 4 is different on the left
hand side from the bar code for the number 4 on the right hand side. The code
can be scanned from either direction and the computer will recognize which side
it is reading. These bar coded numbers on the right and left are separated at
the center by a separator which is
also a bar coded number, this separator is slightly longer than the other bar codes. The numbers at the beginning
of the left hand side are initialized with a bar coded number and the last number at the right hand
side is identified with a bar coded number as a terminator to the sequence.
These identifiers on the ends of the sequences are slightly longer than the
other bar codes. Pull out a grocery item and look at the bar code, you will see
that the bar code separator in the middle and the ones on the ends are slightly
longer than the other bar codes and they are all the same bar code. COINCIDENTLY
it happens that the initial
identifier, the center separator and the terminator all are the bar code for the
number 6, therefore 666 is inherently in the UPC. This doesn't mean that it is
evil, but our buying and selling is being monitored by a system that has 666
built into it. The inventor of the bar code admits that there is a 666
in the UPC however he states that it is just a COINCIDENCE, so we are
told. By the way, George Laurer goes into a highly technical discussion on his
web site why the bar code for 6 was the best code to use in terms of space
efficiency and design as the three separators. He states at his web site that
there is nothing sinister about this nor does it have anything to do with the
Bible's mark of the beast (The New Testament, The Revelation, Chapter 13:18).
It is simply a coincidence like the fact that his first, middle, and last name
all have six letters (George Joseph Laurer).

The Mark of the
Beast is designed for Christians, Satan does not need to deceive the lost,
they are already deceived, Satan just needs to keep the lost where they are.
Christians on the other hand need to be deceived.
