Judy, this explains what I saw last night just after sunset here on the NorthWest Oregon Coast...
I looked at the "evening star" and just as I looked, a light appeared just to the right of the "evening star"
and went down and to the left for just the distance that your picture shows...
 
An Iridium flare for sure... same angle as your image....
