Prophetic Numbers: 1 (The One)--Antichrist

Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the
Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we
know that it is the last hour.
1 John 2:18

Every century since the first has seen its share of suggestions as to
the identity of the Antichrist. Mathematical gyrations have "proven"
that various people's names equal "666." In our modern era, the Antichrist
has been identified as Adolf Hitler, various secretaries general of the
United Nations, certain heads of worldwide religious organizations, and
even presidents of the United States.

While the Bible does not reveal the identity of the Antichrist, it
makes clear that he will come. A literal interpretation of "anti-Christ" is
"instead of Christ." Therefore, the human Antichrist to come will
establish himself as the opponent of God by standing in God's place on
earth, soliciting worship and obedience. But such rebellion will be
short-lived. The Satanically-inspired false Christ will be taken down by God
just before the true Christ returns to establish His kingdom on earth
(Revelation 19:19-21).

Be on guard against the spirit of the Antichrist which is "now already
in the world" (1 John 4:3).

What will finally destroy us is not communism or fascism, but man
acting like God.
