I wish to thank Jean Stepnowski's info as to the name of the book, The Hidden Politics of the Crucifixion by Glenn Kimball and David Stirland .
This one book is well worth the read. One thing they emphasized is documents that relate a continuous earthquake in Jerusalem when Jesus died on the Cross, that lasted many hours, killed "all" of the mob that were calling for the Crucifixion of Jesus to the very last man. The ferocity of God's judgment so terrified the main protagonists in the Crucifixion of Jesus ---Herod, Pilate, and Ciaphas or Ananias (Sp.??)--- that they each wrote hand wringing "Look what YOU have done" letters to the others. These read very funny in a black humor sort of way.
And the reaction of Tiberius on hearing Pilate had crucified Jesus , his common sense "What's wrong with this picture?" outburst re the execution of a Man capable of raising people from the dead- makes quite an impression.
But after reading the links she supplied, I, too would urge caution in reading these books. They list some good books (eg, Fox' Book of Martyrs) but their book section contains a huge potpourri of Christianity mixed with apparently secular scholastic writings, New Age stuff, UFO stuff, and ?Gnostic? writings.
