This society is very stressful to live in. It is very fast paced and hard to keep up with. Young people are very Impressionable and try to mimic the people they idol. Movie and T.V. stars. They listen to Rock Music all day and the lyrics tell them to hate, have sex, rebel, kill, etc. They go to rock concerts and try to act like the singers. They are like sheep looking for a leader. If their leaders are corrupt, then they will be too. Many of the young people of today are from broken homes. They are tossed to a fro from one parent to the other like an old rag doll. Parents do not love their children like they use to. If you don't want a child, just get rid of it. Have an abortion. It is so easy and convenient. Young people use to have to get permission to have an abortion, but not any more. It is just like going to the dentist and having a tooth pulled.
People are so caught up in buying big beautiful homes, that they have to work several jobs, just to keep up on the payments. They do not have time for their kids. We now have what is called latch key kids. They come home from school, and have to fend for themselves. They don't know how to cook, because all they know is putting food in the microwave, or going to a fast food restaurant. When their parents do come home, they are too tired to do anything with the kids.
On the weekends, they try to have fun with the family, so they pack as many activities in as they can. This is creating more stress. Hurry here, and hurry there. No time to relax and talk with each other. No time to just sit around quietly and play games ( not computer), or watch the clouds float by. The children sometimes feel they are just in the road. They feel unloved and unwanted.
Is it any wonder that you hear of so many young people committing suicide, or going on shooting sprees? Their minds are filled with violence day in and day out. Harry Potter movies teach them about witchcraft. They want to get power to change things. Even if it from the devil. The movies are filled with sex and violence. So that is all they know. To them it is acceptable behavior. Everyone else it doing it, so why not me? They want to feel wanted, but they don't know how. They do the things they think they should do. They copy the movie stars, etc. That is why they dress and act the way they do.
They are lost in so many ways. Spiritually, emotionally, and mentally. They turn to drugs to ease the pain. They do not know about Jesus. No one has told them. Prayer was taken out of the schools, and their parents don't have the time to take them to church. They are lost. So lost. All they want is love, so they go around buying things, thinking that will make them happy. Their lives are filled with gadgets to entertain them. Just buy this DVD and it will make you happy. They just want something to make them feel good.
Like a song once said, "looking for love in all the wrong places."
The biggest mission field of today, are the young people of this country.Susan
