"Re: Jim Bramlett &
Rick Warren"
In response to Jim Bramlett & Rick Warren,
I have served on staff at a church for several years
where the Senior Pastor, Assistant Pastor and some of the Elders went to
a Conference at Saddleback to hear Rick Warren teaching on the subject
of the Purpose Driven Church model of church growth. They came back
so enthralled with what they learned. They also previously did a
conference in Colorado regarding the Cell-based church growth model and
was equally excited about that. Prior to that, they all ventured
over to learn about the Willow Creek seeker-friendly model of church growth.
Consequently, the church adopted all three models and
merged them into one. It is the Purpose Driven, Cell based, seeker
friendly model of church growth. I wished they had stuck with Chuck
Smith's, Calvary Chapel model called "Led by the Holy Spirit". If
you never had the opportunity to meet Chuck or sit under him, it is a blessing.
He has stated on several occasions on having the Holy Spirit adding to
the church. Rather than have an organization that has much of its
roots founded in the Universities of our Nation in Corporate growth models,
I prefer the model of Scripture, ...the Holy Spirit added to the church.
Many of whom I related with have lost or never really
learned basic doctrines of the Scriptures and if you like you may wish
to join the ballroom dancing cell based group, the board game cell-based
group and so many more like that where the closing is a brief devotional
and prayer.
I think I would rather be in fellowship where the basic
tenets of faith are taught, the doctrines of scripture are also being taught
and where the Holy Spirit is leading and guiding you into the truths of
God's Word.
